The Astrology of Gold: The Safe Haven Surge and the Coming Shockwave
A rare Aquarius eclipse and Jupiter–Pluto opposition could reshape Gold’s role in the global economy, and mark its next parabolic move.
⏱ A 13-minute look into the Financial Astrology of Gold
The Quick Take: Gold has surged over 50% in 2025 alone, but the astrology of 2026 suggests we haven’t seen anything yet. A rare Aquarius eclipse, Jupiter–Pluto opposition, and the death of dollar dominance could ignite the next safe-haven supercycle.
THE DAY I REALIZED I MISSED OUT ON GOLD
I’m a fan of Viking Cross artwork. I’ve had my eyes on an elegant gold necklace featuring a beautifully detailed and authentic Viking era Cross with detailed knot-work patterns on it for a few years. When I visited the local dealer for these unique pieces a few months back, I read a sign:
“We apologise for the sudden increase in the price of our products; this is due to global volatility increasing the gold prices this year”.
I realised that these pieces were more expensive than ever. From the start of 2025 to the time of writing, the price of Gold has increased by 51.3%. This is almost unheard of. The combination of a weakening US dollar, high inflation, geopolitical tensions and the onset of the digital currency system has all driven huge capital to the traditional safe-haven asset. It’s simple: fear, uncertainty, and a move to hard assets.
THE ASTROLOGICAL CHART OF GOLD
In financial astrology, there are a few candidates for Gold’s natal chart spanning a few historical moments.
The 1919 London Gold Fix, which established twice-daily pricing for global bullion
April 1, 1968, marked the Gold market’s reopening post-Gold Pool collapse
The January 1st 1975 chart serves as a midpoint for cycle studies.
However, December 31, 1974, at 9:30 AM EST in New York emerges as the superior choice, representing the debut of the COMEX Gold futures market. This was the first standardised U.S. gold futures contract market after the Nixon Shock. This event democratized access to gold.
The 1974 chart is the most verifiable and relevant for today’s 24/5 markets. Additionally, I have seen this chart successfully used by other Financial Astrologers. This gives us an agreed-upon birth time of:
December 31st, 1974, 09:30 AM, New York, NY.
MOON SIGN AND NAKSHATRA
This chart for gold was born under a full moon in Leo. It’s placed in the 7th house of trading, contracts, transactions and one-on-one relationships. Leo is associated with gold directly, both in symbolism (where its ruler, the sun, is associated with gold, and the moon with silver), but also in the energy of warmth, richness, and courage. It’s placed in Āśleṣā Nakshatra. It’s symbolised by the coiled serpent and has an intense magnetic or hypnotic theme.
The ruling deity is the Nagas, the serpent deities, who represent wisdom and hidden knowledge. It suggests a magnetic public presence that captivates or entrances others with a regal and enriching asset. There’s also the imagery of the underworld of gold, the hidden transfers between countries, the secret stockpiling, and the behind-the-scenes power plays that have been occurring with gold for decades. Āśleṣā Nakshatra captures this perfectly.
ASCENDANT SIGN AND NAKSHATRA
The ascendant for gold is at 16 Aquarius. This placed it in the Śravaṇa Nakshatra, which literally translates to “the listener”. The symbol is the ear, representing wisdom gained through sound and the transfer of information. The Aquarian theme here is in the context of innovating future-oriented approaches to gold markets, which is what this chart was all about.
SUN SIGN AND NAKSHATRA
The Sun is in Capricorn in the 12th house in Purva Aṣādhā Nakshatra. It translates to Invincibility, victory and “the undefeated”. It’s all about strong will, victory, strength, determination and dominance. The ruling planet is Venus, symbolising wealth and luxury.
Capricorn is Saturn ruled and is all about the physical hard labour needed to extract value from the earth. This sense of enduring value, which gold is associated with, prestige, authority and adoption by institutions, is also seen through Capricorn, and a sense of disciplined investing and scarcity of the asset, which is what we associate gold with. This placement really reinforces gold’s traditional, conservative and respected image in the world economy.
BACKTESTING GOLD’S ASTROLOGICAL CHART
In order to prove we have a working chart, we need to look at a few of the most significant price moves for gold and the major price decreases.
PRICE RISE 1 | AUGUST 2025 - OCTOBER 2025
September 2025 marked the best month for gold in over a decade - up about 12.5% in that single month.
Let’s start with the big picture. The running age of the gold chart we are using at this point was 50 years old, so gold was in a 3rd house profection year at this time. As per the Vedic time cycles, Gold is in a Moon Mahadasha, Saturn Antardasha and Ketu Pratyantardasha.
At this time, an exalted Jupiter was transiting the natal Jupiter in its own sign in the 2nd house of money, while transiting Jupiter and Venus would conjunct the natal Saturn by the 17th August 2025. This is a powerful overall transit for a substantial, grounded (Saturn) increase in price (Jupiter/Venus).
By September, the best performing month, we see transiting retrograde Pluto in the 1st house in a square aspect with the natal Uranus in the 10th house. This speaks to a tense, stressful, challenging transformation for gold, giving the image of diamonds forming under intense pressure.
Pluto is transformation, Uranus is volatility, and this occurring in the 1st house and 10th house is really speaking to a new identity or volatile price pressure being formed in the “identity” of the asset. This aspect really stimulated an intense swing in market psychology.
The sun trines the natal Sun, while Venus sextiles Pluto and trines Neptune, giving a sense of renewed power and optimism.
On the 24th September, transiting Mars leaves its debilitated position in Libra in the 9th house and enters the 10th house of career, status and reputation, and immediately conjuncts the natal Uranus. This indicates shock increases in volatility, a new emergent “volatile reputation”, and surges in price action. Mars is assertion, energy and irritation; Uranus is volatility, innovation, and fast-moving things. The conjunction of the 2 caused an explosive rise in the reputation (10th house) of Gold.
On the same day, transiting Mercury, representing trade, is conjunct the natal Pluto, indicating power. Put the two together and you get a powerful trading boost. The transiting Sun would conjunct Pluto, a very powerful once-per-year transit, on the 2nd October 2025.
PRICE RISE 2 | 1979-1980
The largest monthly price rise for gold since 1974 happened during the parabolic bull market of late 1979 to early 1980. The biggest spike occurred from December 1979 to January 1980, seeing a monstrous single-month gain of over 62%.
At 4 years old, the chart is in a 5th house profection year. This is especially good for investment, trading and speculation, as these are the themes of the 5th house year. In terms of the Vedic time cycles, Gold was in a Mercury Mahadasha, Mars Antardasha and Mercury Pratyantardasha.
On the 1st December 1979, we see the transiting Sun (Life Force) conjunct the natal North Node (Obsession, Greed, Insatiability), driving obsession and greed to gold. At the same time, transiting Uranus (volatility) was in sextile (slightly supportive) to the natal Venus (value of gold). Saturn was in trine to Venus, Jupiter was trining the natal Sun, transiting Venus was sextile Uranus, and the transiting Sun would sweep in to Conjunct Neptune.
This is a potent combination of factors speaking to a new, obsessive, almost delusional idealisation of gold at this time, which drove huge volatility and fast price moves across the board. This is feverish, delusional, sweaty and obsessive price action into gold, a very bullish convergence of transits.
By 8th December, we also see a pile up of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and Rahu in the 8th house of deep investment money and other people’s money, hinting at a massive surge in energy in deep investment into gold at this time. Venus had just finished conjuncting the natal Sun at this time, too.
By 14th December 1979, we see transiting Jupiter (expansion) and Mars (aggression) conjoin at 10 degrees Virgo, in direct trine to Gold’s natal Sun (Life Force) - we can simply translate this to aggressive expansion in support of the asset - another bullish indicator in this gold mine of bullish indicators during this time.
A few days later, we see a Venus return, where transiting Venus (wealth) conjoins the natal Venus (wealth) at 22 Capricorn. It’s almost tiring the amount of positive indicators for gold at this time, but such is the nature of this monstrous 62% in a month move.
As Donald Trump said, “We’re going to win so much, you may even get tired of winning!”
PRICE FALL | APRIL 2013
In April 2013, Gold plummeted more than 15% in a single month, making it one of the steepest declines since 1974.
At this time, the ruler of the ascendant, Saturn, associated with restriction, negativity and consolidation, was transiting Gold’s 10th house of career, reputation and status. It would have conjoined the natal Uranus at 1 Degree Scorpio a month or so beforehand, dampening sentiment and consolidating the price.
Transiting Uranus, this planet of volatility, was squaring (tough aspect) the natal Sun (life force) of Gold at 9 Degrees Capricorn, whilst opposing (worst aspect) the natal Pluto (death/rebirth) at 9 Libra. Transiting Chrion, the wounded healer, was within 2 degrees of the natal Jupiter, indicating wounds to the value of Gold, while transiting Mars hit the natal Chiron (a real smack in the face aspect, I had one recently).
If that wasn’t bad enough, transiting Pluto, just 2 degrees away from the natal Sun, is in a square with the natal Pluto. The Pluto square occurs once per lifetime and marks a major period of intense upheaval.
THE FUTURE OF GOLD: IS THE DEATH OF THE DOLLAR LEADING TO THE RESURGENCE OF METALS?
“Fiat currency always returns to its intrinsic value…ZERO.” - Voltaire
On the 1st January, 2026, our Gold chart will be 51 years old and enter its 4th house profection year. The 4th house is associated with home, roots, foundation, safety and security and protection of our private space. The 4th house is the “root” of the chart and so indicates such foundational matters as homes, security, safety and emotional wellbeing. From the Vedic time cycle perspective, Gold will be in a Moon Mahadasha and entering a Mercury Antardasha.
There’s a one-two punch happening with Gold right now. On one hand, its value is increasing because of geopolitical tensions, uncertainty, and instability, but on the other hand, the value of the dollar that purchases it has been decreasing. Remember, about 30% of all the US dollars in circulation right now were printed during the COVID-19 period.
In my analysis of a few different asset charts, as well as mundane (World Astrology), I am predicting 2026 to be a generally bearish year in the markets, with potential war flare-ups and the possibility of a health crisis in Q3 2026. Therefore, it is obvious to anticipate that safe-haven metals like gold and silver will perform well.
The biggest aspect of the year is the Jupiter-Pluto opposition taking place around June, which indicates a banking crisis. It’s natural to assume money will flow to traditional safe havens during these potential crisis points. Is it going to be as explosive as it has been this year? Possibly. 2026 is set to be a volatile year, and the level of volatility will likely increase with Gold.
By the 29th January 2026, we have a massive pile-up of planets in Aquarius. Pluto at 3 degrees, Mars at 4 degrees, Sun at 9 degrees, Venus at 15 degrees, and Mercury at 15 degrees.
This is all within Gold’s 1st house, so expect some more international attention on gold - it could be correlated with price rises, but it may also be news surrounding gold. This pile-up of planets suggests the world’s attention is on Gold. Could we see the investigation into Fort Knox come to light around this time? There could be news that there wasn’t as much gold as we thought, or a similar sentiment. The question is “Where is the Gold?”.
The Sun will conjunct the ascendant degree by February 5th as Jupiter retrogrades ever closer to the degree of the natal Saturn - a pattern we saw during the September 2025 price boom.
On February 17th, we have a solar eclipse in Aquarius at 28 degrees of Aquarius. This will land firmly in Gold’s 1st house of Self, identity and the identity of the asset. Solar eclipses bring major beginnings and endings. This eclipse may trigger a major shift in how gold is perceived by the public.
This eclipse forms a strong trine aspect to Gold’s natal Uranus. This looks very bullish. It could usher in sudden and unexpected moves to the upside, often accompanied by shock news or events. I believe February 2026 is the prime time that we see some popping of the AI bubble. This bubble popping may lead to a surge in interest in Gold and Silver as safe-haven assets as the AI bubble chaos emerges around this time.
Notice how Venus (Wealth) will conjunct the natal Jupiter (Expansion) just a few days later at 13 Pisces? Rahu will be very near the natal Jupiter too, signalling obsessive greed related to the asset. Mercury, planet of trade, being in the 2nd house of money at this time doesn’t hurt either. Oh, and retrograde Jupiter is exactly conjunct the natal Saturn at 15 degrees Cancer on this day.
Overall, this looks like a major price surge, possibly related to wider economic uncertainty, in my view, an AI bubble bursting moment, which floods money to safe haven assets like gold and silver.
Using the Vedic Sarvatobhadra Chakra, we actually see that for that eclipse day, Mars, Sun and Moon have Veda (sight) on Ashlesha - Gold’s Moon Nakshatra, and Sravana - Gold’s ascendant Nakshatra, and quite amazingly, Mars, Sun, Moon, Venus, Rahu and Mercury all have Veda on the consonant sound “G” for “Gold” on this day. Saturn (restriction) has Veda on the sound “ai”. Interesting.
By March, transiting retrograde Jupiter at 15 Cancer will be within 2 degrees of a direct trine with the natal Jupiter at 13 Pisces. This denotes protection from price decreases, while the transiting Sun is exactly conjunct the natal Jupiter at 13 Cancer, a further indicator of a strong price rise at this time.
Late April could bring some price challenges at transiting debilitated Saturn will oppose the natal Pluto - generally a bearish aspect which should bring the price down for some consolidation after the Q1 2026 price rise. As Mars opposes the natal Uranus on May 19th, we may see a similar impact.
The 29th of July will see the annual transiting Sun-Jupiter conjunction at 6 Leo, which is Gold’s 7th house. This will make a slightly supportive sextile to Gold’s natal Pluto; this looks like an additional positive time for Gold.
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know I’m cautious about August 2026. There is potential for a brewing health issue around this time, which could come as a shock to the markets. Interestingly, on 16th August 2026, transiting Venus will be conjunct Gold’s natal Pluto at 9 Libra - this really indicates a strong price boost. By this time, the north node enters Aquarius, a huge shift generally, which has multiple consequences on the global stage.
By Q4 2026, it looks as if Gold has had a strong year, and it ends 2026 strongly, with transiting Venus conjunct the natal Uranus, a 1-degree Scorpio by 6th December 2026. Transiting Rahu is firmly in Aquarius by now, likely bringing a refreshed and renewed importance to Gold. The transiting North Node in the 1st house can bring a renewed essential role in the financial ecosystem. Remember, Pluto will be transiting the 1st house of Gold for the next 20 years - could it indicate gold-backed cryptocurrencies being used on the world stage? I think so.
STRATEGIC SUMMARY
Gold’s chart points to a strong start to 2026, with the Aquarius pile-up and February solar eclipse likely driving renewed demand and sharp upside momentum through January and March. Expect a surge in safe-haven interest as the AI and equity bubbles wobble - this looks like the next big bullish window for metals.
By April and May, transits turn tense: Saturn and Mars oppositions suggest a correction or consolidation phase after the early-year highs. A recovery builds again into late July through December, aligning with supportive Venus and Jupiter aspects that historically coincide with renewed buying pressure. In short: accumulate on early-year strength, trim or hedge mid-year, re-enter late 2026 for what may be Gold’s next historic run.

Goodness! sounds like we need to get it (at such high prices unfortunately). I wonder if there's anything in the chart that might point to a retracement in price during these last 2 months of 2025?
