THE RETURN OF THE RED METAL
Copper may seem like a standard industrial commodity, but its astrological chart suggests it is anything but ordinary. The metal is back in fashion as structural demand collides with constrained supply.
The electrification of the global economy, from EVs, grid modernization, and renewables, alongside massive AI data center building projects, is ramping up usage faster than miners can respond. Meanwhile, industrial project delays are keeping supply tight. Much like Silver, Copper has found itself “cool” again, serving as a foundational material for the AI & Robotics industrial revolution.
THE ASTROLOGICAL CHART OF COPPER
The data for the standard astrological chart is based on the first trade of the modern Copper futures contract (symbol HG) on the COMEX. Similar to the chart I use for Silver, this is widely accepted as the “birth” moment for copper’s tradable form in the modern economy.
Copper trading has obviously existed for centuries, but July 29th 1988 at 09:30 AM in New York marked the first trade of the key standardized copper futures product still in use on the COMEX today.

The Archetypal characteristics of the Virgo ascendant include the earth element, ruled by the messenger and planet of trade - Mercury. Virgo rules detail, precision, analysis, logic and is focused on the real-world details. This is appropriate for a metal that comes from the earth itself.
The 10th house of reputation and status for this chart is Gemini, another Mercury ruled house associated with trade, transport, logistics, swift communication and getting things from A to B, appropriate for a futures trading chart.
The two greater benefics, Venus, representing wealth, and Jupiter, representing expansion, are nicely placed in the 10th house of reputation, status and career for this chart.
Pluto, which is associated with deep wealth and the “underground” is in Scorpio - a sign associated with metals that come from underground.
The natal Saturn-Uranus conjunction in the 4th indicates a new technologically innovative way to trade a traditional, old school and conservative commodity. The 4th house can be associated with land, agriculture and underground resources, too. Jupiter, planet of expansion, rules this house, placed in the 10th - a further confluence for this being a chart of an asset mined from the ground.
The Ruler of the 2nd house is Venus, Karaka (indicator) of wealth, placed in the 10th house of status and reputation.
Note: Saturn in Mula nakshatra speaks to the "root" of things. Mula is associated with roots and underground systems, further confirming this chart's validity for a mined asset.
HISTORICAL BACKTESTING
Does this astrology chart actually correlate with the price history of Copper?
BULL RUN #1 | MARCH-MAY 2024
Copper prices spiked from around $4 per pound in early March 2024 to $5.20 per pound by May 2024 - a 30% rise, triggered by a Comex short squeeze and inventory tightness.
Checking the transits of our astrological chart for this time, we see the following:
Pluto at 1 Degree Aquarius directly trines the natal Jupiter at 1 Degree Gemini - powerful supportive wealth increase signature. Pluto opposed Mercury, speaking to the tension and opposition from short sellers with deeper wealth and power, essentially manipulating the price (All significations of Pluto) against the true value and trade (Mercury) of Copper. The price rise occurred as a result of tension and opposing market forces.
Saturn at 9 Pisces exactly trined the natal Pluto at 9 Scorpio - a planet of “reality” and “discipline” supporting the wealth (Pluto) aspect of copper at this time. The transiting Sun was in a rough trine with Pluto, giving additional support.
By 13th May, the exact day of the local top we saw an interesting conjunction of Sun, Jupiter and Uranus in the 9th house in Taurus, with Jupiter within a few degrees of the natal Jupiter of this chart, constituting a Jupiter Return for Copper. This is a highly potent positive period in this chart, pretty well aligning with the local top on May 13th 2024.
BULL RUN #2 | JULY 8TH 2025
On July 8th 2025, US Copper Futures spiked 17% intraday to around $5.89 per pound - this was the largest single day gain since 1989, triggered by President Trump’s announcement of 50% tariffs on Copper imports.

This is really notable. Uranus, planet of surprise, shock and volatility, is at 0 Gemini, essentially conjunct the natal Jupiter at 1 Gemini. Uranus-Jupiter aspects are some of the most bullish in Financial Astrology. Uranus conjoining the natal Jupiter signals peak excitement, increase and breakthroughs, which we saw for the price of Copper on this exact day. Furthermore, Pluto is at 2 Aquarius, just 1 degree from a perfect trine with the natal Jupiter, while transiting Venus had just conjoined the natal Jupiter a few days prior.
BEARISH CASE STUDY #1 | 2008
As part of the wider 2008 crash, Copper suffered heavily from July 2008 to December 2008, dropping about 67%.
Checking our Astrological Chart for this time period, we see the following:
Transiting Pluto conjoins the Natal Uranus, indicating heavy volatility and destabilization. This can indicate breakdown or breakthrough, in this case breakdown.
Transiting Uranus (Destablization) was in a square aspect (Stress) with the natal Venus (Value/Wealth of the asset).
Mars, ruler of the 8th house of volatility had just passed over the ascendant degree and is now making a square with the natal Venus, suggesting further negative price action
BEARISH CASE STUDY #2 | MARCH - JULY 2022
Copper fell by about 30% in the period from March to July 2022.
Looking at our transit chart for this period, we see the following:
Around this period, transiting Uranus, planet of shock and volatility, was in a tough square aspect to the exact degree of the natal Moon in this chart. This translates down to a tough, shocking change in sentiment of the asset. This is a tough aspect which seems to correlate with the downward price action.
At the same time, Neptune squares Venus, indicating confidence issues or price disillusionment. Mars also opposes the Sun whilst the Sun squares Saturn, giving some short term negative indications to the downside.
A local bottom was reached July 11th, just as Venus conjoined the natal Venus at 23 Gemini and transiting Jupiter conjoined Mars and trined the Sun, giving increased optimism which was reflected in the price recovery after this.
FUTURE FORECAST: COPPER’S KEY DATES IN 2026
We’ll now analyze the future astrology of Copper in 2026 using various methods.
PROFECTION YEAR
From 29th July 2025 through 29th July 2026, the chart we’re using for Copper will be running a 2nd house profection year. This is one of the best profection years for matters related to finance. It relates to possessions, sense of value, which naturally extends to income, assets and wealth. In our Copper chart, the 2nd house lord is Venus, the natural planet associated with wealth, money and metals.
VARSHAPHALA CHART 1
The Vedic Solar Return chart can give a sense of results for the year that occurs from the birthday. Let’s analyze the Varshaphala for Copper from July 2025 through July 2026.
Just as per the natal chart, this chart is a Virgo ascendant. The ruler of the ascendant is Mercury placed with the sun in the 12th house in Leo, eerily similar to the natal chart.

Jupiter exalted in the 11th house of gains, networks, alliances and windfalls.
Venus in the 10th house in Gemini

Overall this yearly result chart for 2025 through 2026 leans bullish. We’re about half way through this time period. Indeed, from July 29th 2025 to the day of writing, December 29th 2025, 5 months into this year, Copper is up on the order of 15-20% which is excellent.
So naturally the question is, has the positive potential indicated in this chart been squeezed for the year? Let’s check the next Varshaphala chart, indicating results for July 2026 through July 2027.
VARSHAPHALA CHART 2
This one is particularly notable. The Sun has excellent directional strength being in the 10th house of status, reputation and career, and is his own sign of Leo. Jupiter is exactly conjunct the Sun at 6 degrees Leo also in the 10th house. This is a potent sign of success in the reputation and status (and most likely price) of Copper in the year July 2026 through July 2027. Jupiter also rules the 2nd house of everyday money and the 5th house of speculation and investment. This is very bullish.

On the whole, this is giving a confirmatory message to the success and bullishness of Copper through 2026 and 2027.
Before we look into the key specific dates of 2026, we can also use the Vedic Mahadasha’s to check for further confluence on timing.
VIMSHOTTARI DASHA
The Vedic Dasha system simply divides up the chapters in the life of a person or asset. What we find for copper is an interesting and rare combination of dashas.
This is a rare sequence. We see Jupiter Mahadasha is active from 2016 through 2032. A Venus Antardasha runs from 2024 through 2027, with another Jupiter Sub-Sub Period running from February 25th 2026 through July 7th 2026.
This is another powerful confluence that suggests positive price action is coming for Copper through 2026 and even into June 2027, as the main planet associated with wealth here is Venus, who is running her sub period from October 22nd 2024 through to June 20th 2027. In other words, this is bullish for 2026 and 2027.
So, let’s zoom into the most critical dates for Copper in 2026.
THE KEY ASTROLOGICAL TRANSITS FOR COPPER IN 2026
25th January: Transit Mars Trines Natal Jupiter whilst Venus conjoins natal Moon.
April 28th 2026 onwards: This is probably one of the most potent times of the year for Copper, as we see Uranus, planet of electricity, upheaval, breakthroughs and shocks enter the 1st degree of Gemini, where it now once again rejoins the natal Uranus, just like it did on 8th July 2025 where we saw that price surge.
Venus is also in the 10th house of Gemini at this time too, giving a sense of price increase or increase in the reputation and status of the asset at this time. The Sun trines Neptune exactly, giving confidence increase at this time.
The 27th July is a really positive date for Copper, and it might be worth positioning in about 6 weeks or so before this date. We see transiting Jupiter enter the 6th degree of Leo, conjoining to the exact degree the natal Sun for our Copper chart.
This indicates a positive price increase, renewed optimism and life force for the asset. In general. The Sun will also be within 2 degrees of the natal Sun, having passed over the natal Mercury a few days beforehand.
This transiting Jupiter at 6 Leo will also be in a supportive trine aspect with the natal mars, increasing bullish energy here. The Sun will also make a trine to Mars 2 days later. It’s also worth noting that Venus is also conjunct the ascendant at 18 Virgo during this time.
13th August - Solar Eclipse at 20 Degrees Leo
This eclipse doesn’t impact anything directly related to the chart, but it’s worth noting that it’s a busy area of the chart at this time with the Sun, Jupiter and Mercury in Leo at this time.
A Solar eclipse in the 12th house of this chart for Copper could suggest different events related to the 12th house themes. This could be a time of price decrease and cool off, as the 12th house relates to loss and dispersion of energy. But the 12th house is also related to foreign lands and foreign overseas operations. Foreign regulation or even Tariffs related to Copper on foreign lands (from the US perspective) could be even more active around this time. Despite that, August still looks like a generally favourable timeframe as Jupiter is still within 10 degrees orb of the Sun.
Around 13th September, Uranus will station retrograde at the 5th degree of Gemini, just 1 degree away from an exact sextile with the natal Sun at 6 Leo and the natal Mars at 6 Aries. Since the station retrograde marks a punctuation point in the story of Copper, and its in the 10th house making those sextiles, expect significant Copper news around 13th September. For me, on the whole it looks positive. Venus is in Scorpio at this time too, which is generally a bullish period for precious metals.
BEARISH TIMEFRAMES FOR COPPER IN 2026
9th April - Saturn debilitated in the 8th house of volatility will conjoin the natal Mars at 6 Aries. Saturn simultaneously squares the natal Neptune within 2 degrees. Expect depression or confusion in price action, and possible temporary reduction in price.
The 23rd April could see a continuation of this theme as Neptune at 3 degrees squares the natal Chiron at 3 degrees Cancer, against sparking confusion in the true valuation of copper.
6th November - A Mercury retrograde in Scorpio will cross over the natal Pluto in Scorpio in the third house, bringing up hidden information, manipulative communications, or intense news about Copper’s trading, logistics or data comes to light. It could correlate with sharp news driven volatility and re-evaluation of the market narrative
