Methodology Note: This report applies Tropical Vedic Astrology. This is a hybrid approach using the Western zodiac for signs and Vedic (Sidereal) positions for nakshatras, dashas, and everything else. This is called the Sayana Ayanamsha, bridging both western and vedic astrology without contradiction.
THE ZCASH EXPLOSION
A 737% rise. In just 7 weeks. It shocked the crypto world and exploded from nowhere onto our screens. The privacy-based coin just had a mind-blowing surge, but what’s the reason behind the hype? And more importantly, are you late? Early? Or just at risk of FOMO’ing in? The astrological timing of this coin couldn’t be more relevant, so let’s dive in.
THE PRIVACY SURGE
Sometimes we miss big opportunities in life. I was consulting with a private client back in September on the astrology of this particular asset. We linked my client’s own astrological timing with the asset’s astrology for optimal timing insights. I noted that a price increase would likely occur from October onwards. And then life got busy with my other projects, and I didn’t end up buying some $ZEC for myself. We live and learn!
A primary reason Zcash is soaring is because of the renewed narrative of true privacy-based coins. Back when Bitcoin launched in 2009, the concept of a peer-to-peer, no middleman, distributed ledger technology currency was revolutionary. But there was still a problem - a public blockchain is still public. Every transaction can be tracked. And there are major benefits to this and major costs. Since those days, global financial surveillance has intensified, and ironically, these assets based on cryptographic technology have become just as traceable and trackable as any other currency.
In 2016, cryptography experts took Bitcoin’s open-source code and added zero-knowledge proofs, among other improvements, to create Zcash. Zcash is similar to Bitcoin, but with full encryption to protect users’ financial information. There’s rising demand for shielded transactions, truly private coins as Bitcoin promised in the early days, which has renewed interest in Zcash’s zk-SNARK privacy layer.
With institutional adoption coming in, alongside continued momentum with privacy technology being implemented, the market quickly realised the value of Zcash. So, from a trading and investment point of view, are we late to the game?
THE ASTROLOGICAL CHART OF ZCASH
To cast an accurate astrological chart, we need the exact time, date and place of birth of the official launch, first trade, IPO, or genesis block of the asset. We need the earliest possible official time the asset came into being.
Using a simple blockchain explorer, we can easily find the genesis block of Zcash.
This shows the genesis block was mined on 28th October, 2016 at 07:56:00 UTC. But where was the project launched from?
Well, at the exact time of the October 2016 launch, the company that created and launched Zcash was officially called Zerocoin Electric Coin Company. Their registered headquarters and the physical office where Zooko Wilcox and the core team worked and mined the genesis block were in Broomfield, Colorado. This address appears on their original 2016 SEC filings, IRS nonprofit paperwork, launch blog posts, and contemporary team photos/videos from the launch party.
Additionally, Zooko himself repeatedly referred to “our office in Broomfield/Denver” in 2016–2017 tweets and interviews when talking about the launch. So I am 95% sure we have the correct location.
This gives us the following astrological chart details for ZCash:
28th October, 2016, 1:56 AM, Broomfield, Colorado, USA
We have a Leo ascendant, with the ruler of the ascendant being the Sun, in the 4th house in Scorpio. The Sun lends this project a purpose and a driving force, located in the 4th house, associated with private places, homes, comfort zones, and the “underground.” This is complemented by the sign of Scorpio, which is associated with all things secret, hidden, private, and obscured.
It’s quite a literal placement for a privacy-focused asset. Mercury, planet of trade and transaction, is exactly conjunct the Sun in the 4th house in Scorpio at 5 degrees. This not only reinforced the private transaction aspect of the coin, but as Mercury is the ruler of the 2nd house of money and the 11th house of networks, it’s speaking even more loudly about private networked transactions.
Uranus, planet of innovation, technology, and crypto itself, is placed in the 9th house in Aries, giving a worldview that drives this project based on innovation and doing bold new things. Reinventing and innovating on the technology of the past is a key selling point of the Zcash protocol.
Ketu and Neptune are conjunct in the 8th house in Pisces. Ketu represents blockchain, Neptune represents the hidden, illusory or hard-to-pin-down aspects of reality. Placed in the 8th house of other people’s money and hidden resources, ruled by Jupiter in the 3rd house in Libra, speaks to a positive form of intentional privacy and obfuscation for everyday transactions in the marketplace.
MOON + NAKSHATRA
The Moon is in Hasta Nakshatra, in the 3rd house in Libra.
Hasta is a nakshatra of manual skills, dexterity and the ability to manifest what one seeks. The symbol is the open hand. With the moon here, there is intelligence and creativity in the project with high levels of adaptability.
SUN + NAKSHATRA
The Sun is in Swati Nakshatra, in Scorpio, in the 4th house.
Swati is all about independence, personal freedom and the ability to chart one’s own course. It can translate to “The Maverick”. Some key notes for this Nakshatra include independence, movement, progress, differing, and leaving. It brings an energy of drifting away from the mainstream to differentiate itself.
This is a key characteristic of the Zcash protocol. Swati is ruled by Vayu, the wind deity, symbolising flexibility, dispersion, and underating under the radar. There’s a sense of allowing funds to move freely and untraceably, untethered from centralised surveillance - mirroring the wind’s freedom and elusive quality.
ASCENDANT + NAKSHATRA
The ascendant is in Magha Nakshatra, in Leo, in the first house.
Magha denotes royalty, kingship, rulership and ancestral legacy. It’s all about carrying the heritage, lineage and karma of those who came before. This is really interesting because the Zcash protocol literally inherited Bitcoin’s foundational code and the underlying philosophy (or legacy) of private money and then attempts to evolve it.
Zcash assumes the “throne” among privacy coins. Magha natives are described as building strongly on a foundation, honouring continuity. And by retaining Bitcoin’s fixed supply, open validation and decentralisation with the enhanced privacy metrics, Zcash keeps the foundational strengths but adds its own flair to this. Not to mention that Magha can be associated with royal wealth and solid resources.
BACKTESTING THE PRICE ACTION
Price Rise #1 | 30th September 2025 - November 19th 2025
This time period is the most obvious bull run for Zcash, with a mind-boggling 700%+ run. What was going on in the chart at this time?
Let’s zoom out. By 28th October 2025, Zcash was in a freshly running 10th house profection year. This is very auspicious. The 10th house profection year a year all about career, status, public image, fame, reputation, one’s stance in the world, the work one does in the world, and how you are seen by others. From 28th October 2025 through 2026, the theme is on Zcash’s appearance in the world, career and fame.
What signature do we see kick off early October? The classic transiting Sun is conjunct the natal Jupiter-Moon conjunction. This is a once-per-year transit that usually brings expanded power, wealth, energy - it’s simply a classic indicator of a benefic boost and price rise in financial astrology.
At the same time, transiting exalted Jupiter was in a square aspect with Uranus - although a square aspect is traditionally considered a tougher aspect, the energies of Jupiter combined with Uranus are also classic price rise indicators in financial astrology. Jupiter is expansion, in a tense, stressful, high-energy energy exerting aspect with Uranus, the planet of surprises, shock. Crypto, volatility and revolution.
To give a little extra boost, assertive Mars was conjunct within 2 degrees of the natal Sun/Mercury conjunction, in a trine to the hopeful, optimistic, aspiring Neptune, raising sentiment and confidence (and delusion, to some extent).
Jupiter was in trine, the most positive aspect, to $ZEC’s natal midheaven - the career point, giving a boost in fame and reputation. All this occurred on October 3rd. In just 7 days after this date, Zcash rose 62% - a really extreme example.
Now, was this so obvious to see? There’s also the marker of the Venus-Ketu conjunction in Virgo, which is Zcash’s 2nd house. I warned around October 3rd, there could be a dump in the markets as Venus, the planet of money, is debilitated in Virgo, and in conjunction with the planet of loss and reduction, Ketu.
We really saw the effect of this on October 10th, the largest liquidation event in crypto history, when Venus and Ketu were still within 10 degrees orb. Virgo is Zcash’s 2nd house of money, so if we didn’t know beforehand, I would have likely been more concerned with this aspect. However, the Sun conjunct Jupiter and other positive transits mentioned have clearly overridden that negative aspect.
By the 21st of October, we see transiting Venus, planet of wealth, in her own sign of Libra, conjunct the natal Jupiter-Moon conjunction at 10 degrees Libra. This is another classic sign of wealth expansion in traditional financial astrology.
Price Rise #2 | September 2017 to January 2018
ZEC rose from around $190 in September 2017 to a high near $880 by January 2018. This was a gain of over 350% in just a few months.
From October 28th 2017, Zcash entered another auspicious 2nd house profection year, where the theme for the year is money, cash, and everyday resources.
During this timeframe, we also see really positive astrological indicators. Transiting Venus, planet of wealth, in her own sign of Libra, is conjunct the natal Jupiter once again on 22nd October 2017.
Then, on October 26th 2017, we see the transiting Sun and Jupiter conjoin at 3 degrees Scorpio. This is within just 2 degrees of the natal Sun/Mercury conjunction at 5 Scorpio. On 2nd November 2017, transiting Jupiter conjoins the natal Sun. This was a potent once-per-12-year transit. That occurs far less often than the once-a-year transit of the Sun to a natal Jupiter.
The transiting Sun also gives a supportive trine to the natal Neptune-Ketu combination at this time, too. We see a local top as Transiting Pluto gets within 3 degrees of the natal exalted Mars.
Price Fall #1 | January 2018 to December 2018
During the 2018 crypto bear market, Zcash dropped from around $880 in January 2018 to under $60 by the end of the year - a decline of over 90%. This was the largest and most sustained drawdown, mirroring the collapse seen across the broader sector.
On 18th February 2018, we saw transiting Jupiter in Scorpio opposing ZEC’s natal career point, the midheaven. It also conjoins the IC at this point. This can speak to overextension, overexertion, and a sensible retracement. Pluto also conjoined the Vertex point on this day. Despite the fact that Zcash was running a Saturn-Sub period highlighting restriction and decrease, this year broadly aligned with the wider market crash.
Price Fall #2 | March 2024 - July 2024
ZCash fell from around $56 on March 12th 2024, to $15.87 on July 4th, 2024. This was a major 71% decline.
Around this time, we see Saturn, planet of restriction, conjoin the natal Ketu-Neptune combination at 9 degrees Pisces. Saturn brings constriction and reality to the ephemeral and optimistic Neptune, while exacerbating the archetype of loss typically associated with Ketu.
We also saw a very rare Rahu-Chiron conjunction at 17 degrees Aries on 8th March 2024. We can combine the signification of Rahu being obsessive, with Chiron, the wounded healer, and delineate it as a fated wounding or ego hit to the asset, which would be necessary to its future growth.
By 10th May, the planet of reduction, Ketu, was within 3 degrees of the natal Jupiter, planet of expansion. So as this conjunction became tighter over the weeks, we saw decreasing price action.
Chiron, the wounded healer, also exactly conjoins the natal Uranus at 21 Aries on the 24th May 2024, signifying a wounding to the price rise that dampens the expansive and revolutionary energy of Uranus.
